Public vs Private Instagram Links: What Downloaders Can Access
The most important difference for an external downloader is not whether you can see a post, but whether the URL can be accessed publicly without your Instagram login.
What is a public Instagram link?
A public link is a URL whose media page can be opened without belonging to a private audience or relying on a specific signed-in account. Public visibility can still be affected by region, age, deletion, or temporary restrictions.
What is a private or login-gated link?
A private-account post, follower-only Story, Close Friends Story, or other content that requires authentication is not a public source. ReelSave does not request or share Instagram credentials to bypass those controls.
The incognito test
Paste the URL into an incognito/private browser window while logged out. If the content does not load there, an external public-link downloader may not be able to access it either.
Why this matters for privacy
